WhatsApp Pay has been approved by the government, but the condition is that it will be able to use 20 million users at present, while the number of WhatsApp users in India is more than 40 crore.
You will not be charged any fee for WhatsApp Pay. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself has given this information. WhatsApp will work on Unified Payment Interface (UPI) system. Like it happens with Google Pay and Phone Pay.
WhatsApp will be available in 10 Indian languages. After the new update, you can scan any UPI code and pay with WhatsApp. Meaning that the way you are currently paying with Google Pay or PhonePe, you will be able to pay through WhatsApp Pay.
WhatsApp has partnered with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, SBI and JIo Payments Bank for payment service, although you will be able to use WhatsApp payments even if you do not have an account with these banks.
Like Google Pay and Phone Pay, WhatsApp Pay will also require a UPI PIN, so that you can make a secure payment.
